2016 Volunteer Appreciation
FIAG held the annual Volunteer Appreciation on April 12th, 2016. We had a fantastic turnout of volunteers and gave 5, 10, 15 year awards to different volunteers. The appreciation started with socializing and moved into presentations by Vickie Orcutt, FIAG Executive Director. Several of the volunteers told stories about the history of FIAG and gave testimonies about volunteering. Palace Theatre Tickets was awarded to Paul Anders for having the most drives, 52 total, in March, 2016.

"I started volunteering as a driver for Faith in Action in August of 2013. I enjoy volunteering because I can enable seniors that need rides to medical appointments, grocery shopping, hair appointments, etc. to accomplish tasks that most of us take for granted. Not only is it beneficial to them but I get the added pleasure of meeting and making friends with many new people that I drive. It also gives me a reason to get out of the house for which my wife is also grateful."
Melinda Eidson never imagined she would find volunteering with senior adults so fulfilling, especially since she spent 28 years working as an elementary school teacher. "I taught in the lower grades, and I loved working with children. But when I retired, my focus turned to the other end of the age spectrum." she said. "I enjoy giving rides to our clients, chatting with them, and listening to their stories. They are always so thankful and appreciative."
