Faith in Action offers services to help older adults in maintaining and improving their quality of life. With assistance of volunteers, clients can maximize their ability to meet their own needs and to continue to live independently. We currently offer transportation, handyman services, errands, care calling and visits, information and referrals, and a medical equipment closet.
SERVICES WE OFFER:
Transportation
NOTE: We are not able to provide transportation to individuals in wheelchairs who are not able to transfer to a car independently. Our volunteers are not able to transport wheelchairs in their vehicles.
Transportation is the service most requested by our clients. Volunteers provide rides for clients to a variety of destinations including medical-related offices, grocery stores, barber/beauty shops, banks, activity centers, support groups and more. Access to transportation helps seniors stay independent as they age. Faith in Action Georgetown transportation services are adaptable to the needs of individual clients. Several service levels are offered such as; curb-to-curb, door-to-door and door-through-door. This ensures each client is safe and taken care of in the way best suited for them and their situation. Transportation services are provided at no cost to enrolled clients, although donations are gratefully accepted.

Handyman Services
Sometimes older adults need some handyman work done around the house. These jobs can be as simple as changing a light bulb or mowing the yard but can be on the dangerous side for some seniors. We offer this service to seniors to help them keep up the maintenance of their homes, keeping them safe and healthy.
Errands
Sometimes seniors don't need transportation but just need a few things picked up at the store or pharmacy. Our volunteers will pick certain items up for clients if they don't need transportation but just a few errands to be run.
Care Calling and Visits
Many clients don't have family in the area and some are new the Georgetown; that's why we offer care calling and visits. Regular phone calls can be made to clients requesting a call or visit to check on them or just to chat. This service helps seniors combat loneliness.
Information and Referrals
Faith in Action keeps a resource of businesses and organizations (some are for-profit) to refer to clients if we cannot offer a service that meets their needs. Please visit our Information and Referrals for more information.
Medical Equipment Closet
Faith in Action has a medical equipment closet for items like crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, and other equipment. These items are offered on a first-come-first-served basis and the stock of this closet can vary from day to day. Please visits our Medical Equipment Closet page to learn more.
